SPIC CHIC PAVES WAY FOR 3 SCREENPLAYS INCLUDING LIFE OF SALSA PIONEER
While the NY Brooklyn Public Library system continues to add dates to the ongoing Spic Chic book club series, roughrican productions has been hired to write and edit screenplays for three major projects due for release later this year and 2010. (The book club has also been booked for stops in Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo and more than 20 cities in the US plus readings overseas.)
On deck are the lives of one of Salsa music’s leading Salsa music promoters (spanning from 1948-2007), the stellar boxing career of middleweight champion Joey Gameche (55 and 4) and a documentary on the spiritual teachings of Hasidim in Crown Heights (Toward A Meaningful Life: The Wisdom Of The Rebbe author: Simon Jacobson) directed by Joseph Savoy (grandson of the famed Savoy Ballroom founder in Harlem.)
In the meantime, WEPAwebTV is filming new sequences featuring “Lola Magdalena” (Maria Hernandez) for release in May at MNN studios in Manhattan. (Ms. Hernandez is currently handling translation duties for the New York Yankees. On Tuesday she fielded questions for Yankee catcher/slugger Jorge Posada and other Latino players on the Bronx Bombers roster for national media at the new stadium.)
